Exhibitionist

Hey, I'm still alive! My blog is like a neglected puppy - no it's like a sleeping brown bear!

I've been flat out painting (which is why I have been doing hit and runs on the blogs I follow and not posting on mine) because I am going to be an exhibitionist in a week and a half!

I met an exhibitionist in the back streets of Athens once, it was very funny.

If I were an organized person I would have been painting for this event a year ago as we booked the gallery two and a half years ago (yes it's a popular venue) but no - I have been preparing for only a month...

If you're reading this and you're within cooee* on the 26th of August please come to the opening!
For people who can't come - I'm hoping to have an online exhibition on google+ when I can work out how to organize drinks and nibbles with people all over the world at the same time.

*Cooee - Aussie bush talk for 'Come Here' and if you're 'within Cooee' then that means you are close enough to hear me yell 'Cooee!')

'Cooee!'

    1. Oh Marianne it's so nice to be missed - especially by you. I'm looking forward to getting back to normality and (would you believe) cleaning the house.

  4. Congratulations, Julie! Sadly, won't be "within cooee" (I was wondering where exactly that was, so I'm glad you explained), but I'll be there in spirit. :)

    1. Hi Amy. I would like to be sublime but I'm definitely the ridiculous :)

  7. HOW FLIPPING EXCITING!!!!! YAY for you Julie! That is definitely a good excuse for being absent from the blogging world. 'Oh, I am just painting and getting ready for a gallery opening'
Much cooler than my excuse of 'Uhhh, well it's summer, and uhhh, I have been busy with summer stuff'

Way to go! Good luck :)

    1. Thanks JR! busy with summer stuff? - sounds nice. It's on it's way here.
Actually, to be honest, I had slowed in my blogging before I begun painting. My mojo or would it be blojo? had fizzled and needed re-igniting.

  8. How lame that I am reading this now, many moons from when it was written? Late as I am, though, I am filled with glee! I want to go to your art show in Australia. I LOVE your art. Honestly, is that SO much to ask -- one little flight to the other hemisphere to celebrate a dear friend I have never met? Save me a chair. Will there be wallabies, by the way? That part is very important...

    1. Oh Tara, I saved you a chair but I didn't see you at the opening :(
There was actually a wallaby there - the friend I shared the show with is an exceptional realistic artist and does the most beautiful native animal paintings.
We have wallabies on our front lawn in the mornings until our dog tells them to clear off.

    2. I tried to sneak onto an international flight, but...alas...no dice. I am heartbroken to have missed the opening, the wallaby and you. When I'm rich, which HAS to be any day now, I will buy up all your art and use it to decorate my much larger-then-I-have-now house. I will get the wallaby picture as well, from whomever has bought it.

In all seriousness, I hope you both had a lovely opening! I am so excited for you.

    1. Thanks Stephanie. I sold 5 paintings at the opening and another two days later :) It's fun when people 'get' your work.
