Catch the Wind

I was going to write a love story for Valentine's Day - but the following song by Donovan says it all. It could be about unrequited love but that's probably more common than the requited sort. This is one of the greatest love songs ever written and it's my favourite and he's so young and cute, the epitome of young love. Happy Valentine's Day.

In the chilly hours and minutes,
Of uncertainty, I want to be,
In the warm hold of your loving mind.

To feel you all around me,
And to take your hand, along the sand,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When sundown pales the sky,
I wanna hide a while, behind your smile,
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.

For me to love you now,
Would be the sweetest thing, 'twould make me sing,
Ah, but I may as well, try and catch the wind.

When rain has hung the leaves with tears,
I want you near, to kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind.

For standin' in your heart,
Is where I want to be, and I long to be,
Ah, but I may as well, try and catch the wind.

  1. I LOVE that painting! I love the whimsy of it and how it so perfectly, beautifully illustrates Donovan's poignant song.

    1. Thank you Amy - I'm very flattered with such a compliment from a terrific artist like you.

  2. That painting actually gave me chills. (of the good kind)
Perfect accompaniment to a beautiful song.

  3. I love your painting and post! Thanks for sharing.
